چکیده
A 25-year-old man with a past medical history of type 1 diabetes presented to the emergency department 2 days progressive abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting after stopping insulin. His heart rate was 125 respiratory 26. The glucose 832 mg/dl, potassium 6.6 mmol/L, beta-hydroxybutyrate 111.8 pH 6.95.

Fever-induced type 1 Brugada pattern.
Brugada syndrome, first described over 20 years ago, is characterized by a typical electrocardiographic pattern with coved-type ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads and a high risk of sudden death in otherwise healthy young adults. The electrocardiographic pattern is sometimes intermittent, and fever is a possible trigger. The authors present the case of a 68-year-old woman who ca...
متن کاملType 1 Brugada pattern electrocardiogram induced by hypokalemia
Coved-type ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads are the characteristics of Brugada syndrome, an inherited arrhythmogenic ion channel disease, which could lead to ventricular arrhythmia and sudden death. Hypokalemia alone may induce Type 1 Brugada pattern electrocardiogram (EKG), and the association has rarely been reported. We describe a patient with hypokalemia 2.9 mmol/L and the...
متن کاملBrugada-type Electrocardiographic Pattern Induced by Fever
ST-segment elevation in Brugada syndrome is caused by a shift in the ionic current balance and the creation of a voltage gradient between the epicardium and the endocardium. This ionic mechanism have been shown to be temperature dependent. We describe a 33-year-old man who presented with fever with the dynamic electrocardiographic changes similar to the Brugada syndrome. These electrocardiograp...
متن کاملBrugada-type Electrocardiographic Pattern Induced by Electrocution
Heart is one of the most frequently affected organs in electrocution. Electrical injury can cause life-threatening cardiac complications such as asystole, ventricular fibrillation, and myocardial rupture. In this case report, we describe a 22-yr-old male patient who sustained electric burn injury and presented with electrocardiogram showing transient Brugada type pattern.
متن کاملBrugada type 1 pattern and lithium therapy.
Brugada syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by specific dynamic electrocardiographic patterns in the right precordial leads and an increased risk of ventricular tachyarrhythmia and sudden cardiac death. Lithium, a drug commonly prescribed for psychiatric disorders, may unmask the Brugada ECG pattern in patients with the genetic disease. We report the case of a 50-year-old man with a ps...
